Wallpaper Trends

Looking for a fun way to update your home? Consider adding wallpaper to instantly transform the look and feel of a room!

We know, what you're thinking… wallpaper? It's so…1800's and 1920's…but it's ALSO 2020s'!

While wallpaper went out of style over the last couple of decades of the 20th century, it's made a comeback and it's better than ever. Wallpaper, wallcoverings, or whatever you decide to call it, is now much easier to install (and remove) and doesn't require gallons of glue and steamers to be put up. Our real estate agents suggest following these tips to incorporate this trend into your home's decor.

  • Decide What You Want to Accomplish
Before you can start exploring potential wallpaper prints and patterns, you need to decide what you're hoping to accomplish by adding wallpaper. Are you searching for a trendy alternative to paint? Wallpaper is available in a variety of hues and finishes, making it an excellent choice even if you prefer solid-colored walls. Perhaps you'd like to pull focus to one wall? Wallpaper makes a great decorative accent. Do you want to utilize an option that helps tie multiple decorative elements together? Wallpaper prints with a whimsical mural or nature-inspired element are effective options for making a room's decor look more cohesive. Or, maybe you want an affordable way to replicate a textured wall. It's much cheaper and more convenient to use wallpaper that mimics an exposed brick wall or beadboard instead of adding these elements to your home. Once you know what look you prefer, you can begin shopping. Wallpaper is offered in a number of colors, making it easy to find a look that suits your style. If you're concerned about the wallpaper distracting from other elements in the room, opt for a tonal wallpaper that uses similar-colored hues.

  • Think Outside of Your Walls
Despite the name, wallpaper is no longer limited to the walls. Wallpapering the ceiling is an effective way to turn it into the focal point of the room. Or, if you like the look of a specific print but feel that it's best enjoyed in small amounts, use it to paper the inside backing of a bookcase or display cabinet. This is also a quick way to update the look of your furniture. If you love the style of framed prints, have a few wallpaper pieces framed and display them on your walls. This is a terrific solution for incorporating wallpaper without devoting an entire wall to the pattern or print. Maybe you plan to add your home to the list of Waco homes for sale and want to embrace the wallpaper trend in a way that's appealing to prospective buyers. Use a framed wallpaper print to highlight the areas of a room that you want buyers to notice. For example, a large framed wallpaper print that's situated over your fireplace instantly draws the buyer's eye to this desirable feature.

  • Use Wallpaper to Refresh Your Bathroom or Powder Room
Your home's bathrooms or powder rooms are excellent spots to add wallpaper to your home. Since these rooms often lack a lot of design or stylistic elements, they're great spaces to use a bold print or pattern. The lack of other elements also ensures that the wallpaper isn't competing with other features for attention. Instead, it's allowed to be the most noticeable element in the room.

Whatever your motivation or end goal is, make sure to measure, read instructions, look at options, budgets, etc. and remember… have fun! Ready to put your home on the market? Contact us today to get started!
