bathroom updates

Wouldn't it be nice if every time you stepped into your bathroom, you felt like you were at a relaxing spa? Our real estate agents have seen some incredible homes, and they've noticed it's not too difficult to add spa-like touches to a bathroom. With the right features and decor, you can create a space that takes your breath away. Here are a few details to keep in mind for your bathroom that can help you achieve your own private oasis…

  • Bamboo Rock Garden
For a zen atmosphere, create a display with some bamboo plants, a few smooth black rocks, and a couple of white candles you can light while in the bathroom. This display creates a peaceful mood. Utilizing the same rocks elsewhere in the bathroom will echo the style and create a cohesive look.

  • Choose Neutral Colors
Most spas boast a neutral color palette in their decor and furnishings. Bright colors are rarely used, but if they are, it is in the form of accents, through items such as towels or touches of nature such as plants or flowers. Remember, neutral does not have to mean white, in fact, neutral colors often have an underlying tone that will be accentuated with lighting.

  • Install a Rain Showerhead
Rain showerheads often feel luxurious and decadent. This touch can elevate your experience from the mundane into the extraordinary. These fixtures sometimes offer additional features such as colored lights to indicate temperately or simply to set a mood. Others offer multiple functions to dispense water in a variety of settings and speeds. While some rain showerheads are readily available in stores and are fairly simple to install, others - the more elaborate ones - require changes made to the plumbing to incorporate them.

  • Place Hygiene Items in Glass Jars
Boxes and bags from hygiene items can sometimes make a bathroom look messy. We recommend that you place hygiene items — like cotton swabs, makeup sponges, dental flossers, etc. — in glass jars or containers that come in a set. Enjoy displaying them on shelves, or tuck them away in a cabinet for an even cleaner look.

  • Use Towels as Decor
Using too much decor will make your bathroom look cluttered, which is not very conducive to relaxation. For a simple, elegant look, decorate with towels. Roll up a few, and place them on an open shelf. Consider also mounting a couple of hooks so you can hang some towels in attractive colors. Oftentimes, a clean, solid look and color for your towels will work best.

  • Install a Heated Floor
Consider replacing the floor with a heated option. A contractor can run heating elements beneath the tile for a comforting touch you will thoroughly enjoy, especially during those cold winter months.

  • Use Green Plants
Live greenery can create a nice relaxing vibe, and live plants throughout your home -and bath- will boast great benefits. From improving your mood, reducing fatigue, and improving air quality, to lowering stress and anxiety, consider incorporating some plants to boost not only aesthetics but health benefits. We've seen many Waco homes for sale with plants in the bathroom, and every one of them left us feeling calm, relaxed, and a little jealous. Make sure the plants you choose can thrive in a humid area with little sunlight. Good choices include pothos, staghorn ferns, gardenias, and aloe vera. For a special touch, find some wall-mounted planters that incorporate neutral touches like concrete, glass, or leather.

With these ideas in mind, you should have no trouble upgrading your bathroom to a decadent retreat. If you're still looking for the perfect place to call home, don't hesitate to contact us. We'd be happy to help you navigate the real estate market.
