House Hunting

You dream of finding and purchasing a terrific new home, but the stress of hunting for your next home makes the entire process feel overwhelming. Our real estate agents understand the stress associated with homebuying and suggest following these guidelines to make the process as stress-free as possible.

  • Work with an Agent Who Knows the Area
Working with an agent who understands the area where you want to buy is an excellent way to lower your stress. A knowledgeable agent can help you find properties that fit your needs and offer guidance when it's time to make an offer on a home. They can also let you know if they think a property is over or underpriced.
  • Know What You Want
Take a few minutes to envision what traits you want your next home to have. Think about the home's location, the yard and exterior additions, the property's layout, and features, and your budget. Next, decide what items are your highest priority when selecting a home.
  • Have a Moving Plan
Moving from one home to the next is one of the most stressful parts of purchasing a home. Now is an excellent time to make a moving plan so that you can plan accordingly. If you're short on time and hate the thought of packing up your home, consider hiring a full-service moving company that will pack and move the contents of your home for you. Or, maybe you want to minimize your moving costs. A solution is to do your packing yourself, move a lot of your belongings yourself, and hire movers to transport your heavy or bulky items.
  • Take Time for Yourself
When you're in the midst of buying a home, it feels like your calendar is packed full of appointments and things to do. However, it's important to take a little time for yourself so that you feel rested and rejuvenated. Schedule time for you to enjoy your favorite activities or hobbies. Check that your days aren't so full that you're skimping on self-care that will help you better respond to home purchasing stress.
  • Get Pre-Approved for Your Mortgage
Before you start exploring Waco homes for sale, you should look into getting pre-approved for a mortgage. Mortgage pre-approval lets you know how much home you can afford, how much your potential monthly payment will be, and what types of loans you're eligible for. You have numerous loan options for financing your new home. A 30-year fixed-rate mortgage is a popular choice, thanks to the fixed monthly payment and interest rate. Or, if you want a stable payment but prefer to pay off your home faster, a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage is a terrific alternative. Worried that credit struggles or a lack of a down payment may keep you from owning a home? Check out the FHA mortgage program. FHA mortgages have less stringent credit requirements than other loan options, and they permit a down payment as low as 3.5 percent of your home's purchase price. For additional guidance and questions, we recommend you contact an agent, and they can point you in the right direction.

Following these guidelines is an excellent way to lower your stress levels when hunting for your next home. Ready to start your home search? Contact us to get started!
