Cameron Park offers stunning landscapes and views that are seldom found in the heart of an urban area. Located at the junction of the Bosque and Brazos Rivers, the pet-friendly park has a number of cliffs with incredible panoramic views. Take the challenge of Jacob's Ladder, a climb of nearly 100 steps that once led to a family home. Lush foliage surrounding the staircase makes even the trip up a treat. There's plenty to do on solid ground as well, including a 23-hole disc golf course, three playgrounds, and the Cameron Park Zoo (admission of $12-$16). Fido doesn't want to stay indoors either, so you can both enjoy an outing at HOT Dog Park. Since 2011, Dr. LuAnn Ervin has generously allowed a 5.5-acre section of her private property to be operated as an off-leash dog park. Administration and maintenance, performed by a team of volunteers, are community-funded. The tree-studded grounds feature several hills and valleys where dogs of all sizes can romp. Be sure to bring your own water, as there are no sources of freshwater onsite. Think of Miller Park, just minutes from Temple homes for sale, as an outdoor health club. Spanning three-quarters of a mile, the walking/jogging trail is interspersed with 10 fitness stations for a well-rounded workout. Other facilities include a soccer field, basketball park, and skate park, with a playground for the little ones. A charming pond and fountain add to the park's serene feel. Do you like your outdoor activities with a side of culture and a dash of local history? Take a visit to Indian Spring Park, nestled on the west side of the Brazos River in downtown Waco. The pet-friendly park's centerpiece is the picturesque Waco Suspension Bridge, an iconic landmark that dates back to 1869. Indian Spring Park is also home to a series of bronze sculptures known as "Branding the Brazos." Nationally renowned sculptor Robert Summers, a native of Glen Rose, created the group as a tribute to the legendary Chisholm Trail. The larger-than-life installation depicts three horseback riders and a herd of 25 Longhorn cattle. Facilities include four softball fields, eight horseshoe pits, a soccer field, an 18-basket disc golf course, a two-mile hiking/biking trail, and a bark park for your precious pooch. The Rotary Club of Temple South Accessible Playground is designed to be fully inclusive for kids at all levels of abilities. Lions Park is open daily from 5 a.m. - 11 p.m.
